Karina Buzzi, born in the countryside of Brazil, is an artist whose practice unfolds at the intersections of cinema, photography, video, performance, and music. Drawing from her lineage as a curandeira (healer), her work explores the relationships between the spiritual and the material, the visible and the invisible, often creating intimate and transformative rituals. In her practice, the body and symbolically charged materials act as mediators to access the unconscious and open pathways to altered experiences. Her artistic research emerges from the confluence of performance, moving image, and historical photographic processes, with an interest on the materiality of the image and its translation across media. Central to this exploration is the performativity of the apparatus itself, where cameras, projectors, and recording devices are not neutral tools but active agents in shaping presence, duration, and narrative.
